MEET OUR AWESOME TEACHERS:

Meet Darya Babenko - Classical and Contemporary Piano, Voice, Composition/Songwriting, Music Theory - a Ukrainian born and raised, whose home resonated with the vibrant sounds of Beatles, Queen, and ABBA. Growing up, she explored various art forms, from ballet to hip-hop dance to piano and voice lessons, embodying a love for music and movement from an early age.
In 2007, Darya embarked on an exciting journey to the United States through the reality show "American Chance," chasing her musical aspirations in Los Angeles. Despite leaving her studies at R. Glier College of Music in Kyiv, Ukraine,, she secured a record deal with Ukrainian records- Universal, igniting her pursuit of a musical career.
Graduating from the Musicians Institute with a Vocal Performance Degree in 2011, Darya poured her heart into recording her band's first EP, "Don't See a Reason." Continuing her educational journey at Portland State University, she earned a Bachelor's in Music Composition in 2017.
But Darya's journey didn’t end there—she discovered a newfound passion for teaching music to children, inspired by her own musical experiences. From Los Angeles to Portland and back again, she shared her expertise as a Vocal and Piano instructor at various schools, including California Music Academy, Portland School of Rock, The Music Junction. Eventually she founded Elf Music Academy in July 2020.
For parents seeking to enrich their children's lives through music, Darya is not only a gifted singer-songwriter, composer, and arranger but also a dedicated educator with a heart for nurturing young talents.

Anna Solodilova- Classical Piano
The moment Anna was able to sightread her first song from a piano book at the age of 5, she dreamed of attaining a high level of artistry on the instrument. Her professional training began at the age of 4 when her family enrolled her in a Moscow Children’s Art School. Later she completed a Bachelor’s degree in Piano Performance at the Moscow Regional College of Arts and a Master’s degree in Music Education at the Moscow City Pedagogical University majoring in piano performance.
Being also a certified ESL teacher, she designed a program that combines teaching music and a second language, which she taught to groups of 4-6 year old children in her home city. This work was inspired by theories of natural language acquisition and the Suzuki method.
Anna also specializes in teaching the Suzuki method to students starting as young as 3 years old. After years of teaching and performing in Russia she moved to the United States to pursue her dream of opening her own music school. Anna was determined to make music learning accessible and joyful to students of all ages and different types of learners.
In May 2022 Anna was happy to join the founder of Elf Music Academy: music teacher, singer and composer Darya Babenko who has a similar vision of what a music school should be: accessible, comprehensive and joyful.
In her lessons, Anna takes the best from the Russian classical school of playing piano and uses it to equip students with tools for self expression through piano playing. Anna is currently working on her Master’s degree in piano performance at California State University, Northridge. Her piano solo and chamber music recitals dates are soon to be confirmed.
